Although I spend a lot of my time in the winter in the Lake Tahoe region I had never photographed Bonsai Rock until this outing. It was my first time here and the clouds looked like they might cooperate perfectly for a beautiful sunset. Sure enough the sky appeared as if it was on fire but the color erupted in the wrong spot. Luckily, I waited until the sun dipped further below the horizon and the rest of the sky started to take on additional colors. I used a long exposure to smooth out the water and pick up the color as it crept across the sky.
