It was the tale end of the blizzard in January 2010 and I looked out the window to see that there were horses in the pasture across the road. Temperature was about 15 F without wind chill, light snow and heavy winds but after 24" and house bound for a few days I decided to see if I could get a few shots of them in the snow. Four hours later exhausted from chasing them through the snow for four hours I returned home. They live on 100 acres, the owner visiting in the afternoons to put out hay and they have little human contact. Every time I approached within 20 or 30 yards they would take off. Slowly I would approach again and they would take off once more. I finally gave up only because the cold and wind had me shaking so much that even with my monopod I knew I couldn't keep the camera steady enough.
