Drive East up I-80 from Salt Lake City and head into East Canyon, all the way to the summit of Big Mountain.
This is a hand blend of two exposures, simply to create the same effect that a GND would have made. Corrective White balance was used to match this image with the other images taken that night because the settings were wrong. Slight curves adjustment for contrast.
An incredibly red tree sits high above the Salt Lake valley in East Canyon. This red tree was the most vibrant I could find last fall. It is nestled in the Wasatch Mountains. In the far distance you can see a mountain range nearly hidden in the orange foggy sunset illumination, they are the Oquirrh Mountains on the West side of Salt Lake City. The city itself is serendipitously obscured by a layer of illuminated fog, thus giving the image a more natural look. - Christian Madsen
