Along the Caribbean lowlands of Costa Rica, during April tropical rains, these two male Red Legged Honeycreepers in their stunning breeding plumage were taking drinks of water in the rainy mist and showing off to attract a mate.
Photographed at ISO 800 to pick up the many different colors of blue, to preserve details in the feathers and in the amazing faces. Photographed on the edge of the rain forest on a cloudy day at a shutter speed of 200 and shot in a burst to freeze one of the photos. F-stop 6.3 provided enough depth of field to frame both subjects. The results show for themselves.
