The Marsh Trail is located off of Highway 41 in the middle of the Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge, which is between Collier Seminole State Park and Fakahatchee Strand State Park, Florida.
The Marsh Trail in Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge is one of my favorite places in the Greater Everglades Ecosystem. For several straight days in January, we were getting great pre-dawn color on the marsh. I was drawn to the geometric shapes of this line of marsh reeds reflecting in the water, and I wanted to frame them in the morning light around one of the many wading birds that frequent this area. Finally, on the fifth morning everything aligned, including a very accommodating great egret who stood stock still as I captured this image.
