From Milwaukee, take I-94 west toward Madison, then Hyw 51 north, which runs right through Wausau.
We just don't seem to get this kind of fall color much in the southeastern part of the state anymore. Assume some of it is due to climate change.
My wife and I had a less then impressive trip "up north" as we say in Wisconsin. We decided to extend our stay in Wausau for a day, but were disappointed that the adjacent ski hill, Rib Mountain, was fogged in. Deciding to drive to the top anyway, hoping things would clear, the view was completely obscured. Everyone was straining to see something, but I decided to follow the old photo rule "don't forget to look behind you." This is what I saw right behind the parking lot. So, I set up my tripod and shot a few images while everyone else looked at fog. More then a year later, I'm still pleased with this image.
