I was on a photo shoot at Yellowstone National Park with Van Os Photo Safaris, in January 2015, and our snow coach passed this spot on the way to another location. We urged the driver to stop and we shot a few frames, but the light was too bright, making it difficult to get any differentiation in the snow. About two hours later, we came back the same way and the landscape had become far more interesting. Clouds were layered in the sky and shadows gave the scene depth. I framed the image to emphasize the unbroken snow and the gentle curves of the hills. I used minimal processing on this shot, only adjusting color balance and saturation.
