After years of photographing these birds, it is evident that the same birds make their way south to the same beaches year after year. Making use of this well maintained state park along the shores of Long Island, NY and keeping a tradition of wintering here in New York and continuing to pass down this important refuge to the next generation of birds.
After years of migrations to New York, the Snowy Owls of Long Island still carry on the tradition of flying south for the winter. Every few years, new youngsters are shown the way to this safe haven beach by their parent birds who continue to use flyways that have proven to give these raptors the chance of an easier life during the cold, harsh, and dark winter months of the arctic.
