Approximately 20 miles east of Cody on BLM lands
This image was taken during a guided tour on BLM lands east of Cody, Wyoming to locate a herd of wild Mustangs. With the herd grazing, we were witness to two Stallions engaged in a battle for herd control which lasted several minutes. The struggle took place approximately 300 yards away. This stallion, identified by our guide as Warbonnet, was the apparent loser who left the battleground and to my amazement, began to move right toward our small assembled group. He took his time, stopping to graze until he approached within about ten yards without any apparent fear. Shortly stopping, he continued away from us up to the crest of the hill where he stopped to pose for this shot. Seconds later, he continued on his way and disappeared to fight another day.
