In early Spring, the sea ice off the coast of Baffin Island is the home of Polar Bear mothers and cubs. Polar bear mothers take advantage of the birthing of the ringed seal pups to feed their cubs. After a long day out on the ice, we finally found this family hidden inside an iceberg. They had just woken up from their mid day rest, and the cubs nuzzled their mother demanding to be fed. The mother's expression just melted my heart. So much love can be seen from her gaze, as if she knew many dangers are awaiting her cubs and everyday may be the last day she had with them. Satirically, only one of two cubs will survive after the first year, and only one in four survives until adulhood.
