Description
Several African species of mammals have a mutually beneficial relationship with Oxpeckers: For the birds, it’s pretty easy to get all the food they need (ticks and other parasites), and the host animals get relief from the parasites plaguing them. Zebras, buffalo, giraffes, rhinos, and some big species of antelope welcome the cleansing oxpeckers, but small antelopes and elephants shake them off. With their bright red bill and yellow and red eyes, oxpeckers provide colorful subject matter for wildlife photographers! Kwhai Tented Camp, Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana
