I took the picture with a Canon EOS 7D Mark II with a Canon EF 100 - 400 mm f 4.5 - 5.6L IS II LSM telephoto lens. I was shooting aperture priority at f 5, 1/200 shutter speed and ISO 400.
Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, near the Mara River, at sunrise, early November 2018. We watched the leopard bring down the wildebeest, then drag it back to a kopje (rocky outcrop) where she and her three cubs spent the next three days finishing it off. The first rays of sunrise caught her in a perfect spotlight of gold light against the still dark rocks.
