Comparing to the Burrowing Owls that I have photographed in Florida in the past, these owls hunt a lot more frequently. I guess it was due to the nest location right outside of the Ontario airport. With the jet airplanes continue to land and take off during the day, once the temperature started to warm up, the jet blasts from the engines often flush out the beetles. This particular nest still has the owlets and the adult was catching these beetles in the air. It would then prepare it and bring it back close to the burrow, where the owlets were located. That particular morning, the adult was very active and hunting frequently to feed the owlets.
