A wild mustang mare with her young mustang filly in the Red Desert of Wyoming.
This little filly is a special one with gorgeous blue eyes, a medicine hat, and sheilds on her chest and flanks, these markings are significant in the Native American culture, and have become important to the those of us that photograph these horses.
There are many wild mustangs in the high desert of Wyoming, some of them I have been lucky enough to observe and photograph for several years, some days they pose as pretty as this, others they snooze in the sun and ignore you, and still other days they have no time for the camera and gallop across the plains and into the sage hills, leaving you only with awe at their wild and free beauty.
