I took this photo at the Gunung Leuser National Park in Sumatra, Indonesia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Orangutans are highly intelligent, peaceful animals and unfortunately critically endangered. After a few days in the rainforest with the assistance of a guide I became more used to see them not far away from me. And even though Orangutans are arboreal apes occasionally they go to the ground. I took this photo with a focal length of 70mm. I was very excited to see mother and baby so up close , not threatening, all the opposite, almost human.
