I took this picture in February 2019 at the Jōshin'etsu-kōgen National Park, Honshū, Japan. Very early in the morning the Japanese Macaques were coming down from the mountain to an Onsen, a natural hot spring to bath and warm up during the freezing winter. I spent several days with the Snow Monkeys in the Park. And the more I was photographing them, more work there was to do. I wanted to take a picture that revealed the intensity and human like expression of these beautiful Macaques in a simple image. This is what I came up with.
