This incredible lightning strike by Jeff Sullivan is my selection for today's Photo Of The Day. Sullivan took the photo in the Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada and he submitted it to the Telephoto Landscapes Assignment. Many photographers use various techniques to catch a lightning strike. Sullivan's shot was part of a timelapse sequence. He describes it, "I set my self up on a mountaintop opposite this rain cloud to catch it at sunset. I decided to shoot a timelapse sequence, but on one of my first frames the lightning started. This first strike was one of the biggest and most intricate, searching its way to the ground in a convoluted path."
